How I compile my poems

Bought four A4 ,two forty page ruled books 
a dozen lead pencils, sharpener, whitener and  a rubber 
Get some words upon a page 
hope any sad poems, they won't  may make  me blubber

 Number one book is done, but not all is okay
Here comes second book, editing underway

Third book swap some words around
fix spelling, punctuation, all other errors found

Into fourth book still  some whitener left shouldn't now be needed
I reckon all now looks good, I think I have succeeded

And now the time has come to upload poems onto soup 
thank heavens, as there's still some minor errors, and I can utilise the edit poem link
I assume that I'm not too far removed from  methods used by other poets
if you have some time i'd love some feedback,  tell me what you think

Footnote: Andddd after all of that still some ddays later there are still some minor aaaaadjustments

I edidited myself many times and my wife also edited it several times It was a poem comparing ancient ways to modern ways, I finally noticed about three days ago there is a line that should read ancient man just wandered when he wanted to be fed.and it reads modern man just wandered . I can still change it as I have self published. best wishes Douglas (c)xx

Jan Allison February 17, 2026 at 2:24 PM lol Douglas I can relate. I am so lucky as I had a 'super souper' my lovely friend Lin lane to edit both my books. I think we often read what we want to read and having the words checked over by a fresh pair of eyes is a bonus. Its funny I've just written a poem using homophones. i must get it posted in the next few days. i posted an oldie today, its the first time i've re -posted a poem:-) hugs Jan x
