How Does It Feel?

How does it feel,
to be so helpless
that not even a scream
could turn the head of a mouse?

How does it feel,
to be lost in this world
with nothing left
but ignorance
glued to your memory?

How does it feel,
to be kicked when you're down,
to cry in your own hands
with nothing to comfort you
but your own tears?

How does it feel,
to stand up
and limp away
from everything you believed in?

How does it feel,
to be weak,
believing in nothing
trusting in no one?

How does it feel,
to put that mask on
letting only a twinkle of your light
escape the seams?

How would it feel,
to take it off?

How would it feel,
to shine bright
without any hesitation?

How would it feel,
to have a backbone
to hold your head up high?

How would it feel,
to escape the arms of fear
and run into
the arms of love?

How would it feel,
to be able to stand up
and brush yourself off
and say "I'm okay."

How would it feel,
to smile.
