How Did I Get Here

In the years since we parted
Life has crept laboriously onward
How did I get here?
Days filled with mind numbing routine
Nights passed in somber reflection
How did I get here?
You were The One, yet I held back
My past love had taken, never given
How did I get here?
I feared the worst
You deserved my best
How did I get here?
Loss is hard to comprehend
Realization of loss is harder still
How did I get here?
Now the lid is sealed
And the hole is filled
Awake in Hell
How did I get here?
