How Can You Write Every Day
But how can you write every day?
Asks one who lets words get away.
Ideas should not come that fast.
To someone with such a long past.
She means I’m old, I know it too.
Won’t tell her now, but will tell you
Read others work and write down words
That make you feel sad or absurd
Open a dictionary each day
I guarantee that right away
A word will pop up and then poem
About wind chimes, gargoyles, or yellow gnome.
Pretty soon you’ll write lists you see
Words that prance as you watch TV
Your subconscious mind never stops working
In each corner ideas are lurking
Poems of fairies, dragons, lions and such
Are being formed in your dreamland clutch
You are sleeping but your creative mind
Bats around ideas – fantastical and fine.
How can I write every day?
How could I not? I want to say.
Make a list of words and go to town.
There are poems swirling all around.
