How Can I Smile

How can I smile when things are'nt right, Daily struggles like trying to live and top of that monies are tight, Much to my dislike the looks on my babies faces, My heart misses many paces to see their dispair, Where I'm from making ends meet is living and having just enough is rare, Is life fare? I want my forty arcers and a mule, a house paid for with a gocart track and a pool, When will we get our reperations, have'nt we fell victim to enough stagnating situations, I've been flagged and tagged from the day I was born, and hell hath know fury like a black woman scorned, A product of my enviornment is what society has tried to make me, stripping me of proper growth and development, limiting all opportunities, So now it seems I either hustle or die, trying to keep my head above water so that my family survives, Flagged by the hands of them devils that tagged me, Got me caught up in a situation now I'm strapped with a felony, How can I smile? I can smile because I'm still alive, Although my dreams have'nt come true, for them I still strive, And in my babies eyes I can do no wrong, Ensuring Health and Wealth, protecting them from all harm, Thats how I can smile.
