Hourglass of Love

Do the sands of time
flow so quickly,
that we must
compromise
our hearts,
so as not to be
alone?

As one bulb empties
into the other,
does our capacity
to love
drain away
along with it
forever?

If we had
but one grain
of true love
in our glass,
is that not
worth a lifetime's
waiting?
