Hospital Appointment

Sitting in the car park, full of dismay
looking at signs that says pay and display
another long journey to hospital
good news we hope, essential so vital,

Visitors, patients looking for relief
some with hope in their heart, some full of grief,
nurses, doctors starting, finishing shifts
people possessing very special gifts,

signs indicating there is no smoking
yet people smoking vapes, thought provoking,
appointments for a certain time of day
disappointment there's a four hour delay,

I'm so pleased on one hand, just her chauffeur
though having to wait so long feeling bitter,
car park charges adding the more we wait
then, could you come back tomorrow? they state,

inconvenient but they do try their best
agreed with forced smile like all of the rest,
another appointment with overworked, underpaid
staff, perhaps another long wait I'm afraid.

I have a longer hospital appointment at the moment Roy. I hate it with gusto, but nothing to be done about it. Luckily I don't drive a car, so that annoyance I don't have to feel.... I hope you will be okay, thinking about you.

Thank you very much for your very kind comment and concern, Living in the heart of the countryside and all our hospitals are in the cities and driving is the easiest option unfortunately, thanks again. :)

Hospitals, yuck! I guess we have more than poetry in common Roy. I too dislike driving and hospitals:)

I totally agree definitely yuck! There is no fun in either, congested roads and hospitals unable to cope. Thank you for your visit Daniel much appreciated. :)

You have described this so well Roy:-( The car park charges add to the stress of being with someone who is obviously ill. We are fortunate we don't have to pay at our hospital but sadly this is abused by workers from the city who park there for free and then get a bus or a lift and they take the spaces of those who are genuine hospital users:-( I hope things improve for you :-) hugs Jan xx

Roy you have described this hospital situation well. It is how it goes and your observations are so clear too. I hope everything turns out ok. Take care
