Hopeful To Hopeless

The sun was shining, air was fresh and sweet

we laughed as we walked hand in hand by

fields of ripe golden barley, oats and wheat,

we sat in the sweet meadow by the stream

watching silvery fish swimming around

in refreshing water that's clear and clean,

we lay still staring at the sky so blue

observing Wispy distorted clouds float by,

I repeatedly saying how much I love you,

sound of song birds, ringing of the church bell

homeward bound, across lonely valley ridge,

we walked, we talked, we drank from the well,

path was narrow, drop so deep, I recall

You walked behind, I hear screams that took my breath,

fear stricken as I hear you screaming as you fall,

this day I lost my beautiful beloved Beth.
