Hope In the Darkness
Last night darkness
grew around her
Tied up and sedated
She was facing nothingness
(not without pain)
Even while her emotions
were being dulled by the chemicals
She still had electrical hopes
A plea for peace
came from her tortured lips
Does it seem like you
were there with her?
Only in spirit, friend
For she is facing the shadows alone
As memories well up in her
She breathes (not for the last time)
