Hope
Darkness, bleak and dreary,
Pressing down and squeezing tight.
Anger, sadness, gloom, and fright.
Lonely, hurtful, and scary.
Breaking me down, bit by bit,
Seeping through every crack.
There is now no going back,
From this deep and fateful pit.
The slightest glimmer, small and bleak,
Floating through the dark.
That little, hopeful, shining spark,
Crucial, no matter how weak.
Starting to widen, starting to grow.
After all these times I've cried and sighed,
A light is finally here to guide,
Turning from a glimmer to a steady glow.
Filling the room, fueling my soul,
Specks of gold dance in the light,
Winning the endless, painful fight.
Pulling me out from that dark, painful hole and retrieving the joy that the darkness stole...
