Honoring Short Story Month With a Poetic Message
“Keep that story short!!”
Yelled the editor from his office desk fort
Hearing the command
There was an information distributor in a jam
“Was all this true?”
“If not who is going to be the fool”
Making it fit
Then striking the button the information distributor did hit
With the paid obligation done
Despite no creative fun
Time to go home
And stare at the computer screen all alone
After conjuring energy from the spirits
Allowing the imagination to take control by steering it
A magical glow
Stating that Microsoft Word was alive ready to go
No need to decipher handwriting
From the reporter’s notebook recording the fighting
Only describing what’s in the mind
A dreamy film unspooling scripting each and every line
Beginning and ending using not much then one page
While being respectful for the time on the keyboard stage
Short stories are a powerful venue
Quick reads like the food on the menu
An author can go anywhere to mask an opinion
Dropping hints to those who think they are winning
As another short story month opens its book
Take a close look
And get a hook
For a quick tale
With just as much fiction delivered in the daily mail
Can really start a debate
Allowing for the scribbling artist to peacefully set things straight
