Honor and Haunted

Why am I constantly haunted Of imagines in the past Will I ever leave then behind me? How long will it last? It wasn’t a planned vacation Nor a stroll in the park But a duty to my country That leaves me in the dark Many want to talk about it But they will never know Until they suit up and take that leap And into battle we will go There’s really no honor in killing It’s a job that has to be done And when the smoke all clears No one’s really won Still things just can’t be settled And agreements can’t be made Until blood is senselessly shed And soldiers in the grave are laid Population control Or other governments schemes Is war just a tool Or is that the way is seams Still why is it those in charges That start all this mess Never in the trenches Actually, facing death An old saying that sums it all up It’s easier said than done You see war is easily talked about But in the trenches the battle are won
