Hometown
I’m looking for a hometown that’s anywhere but here
Ever reminded that the dark of night gives way to my fear
Where faces of family and friends look like strangers to me
where people are afraid to be who they are meant to be
Hometown- just another word for a living hell
Here living alone is all I’ve ever done well
Surrounded by strangers I know are my own
Where I rest my head doesn’t feel like home
I’m looking for a hometown that’s anywhere but here
Where I’ll know the people and they’ll become dear
Where no one’s a stranger and I can finally breathe
A place where people are just as they seem
Where darkness of night gives way to peace and calm
Likened to the embraces of a lovers arm
Where I gaze upon the moonlight of a summers’ night
And I sense in my soul that my world is right
A place where intimacy and friendship are easy to find
Where living from the inside out is living of my kind
I’m looking for a hometown where people know me well
Where emotions are expressed and friends are easy to tell.
