Homeless
alone,
in the darkness the shadows swirled and jumped
as if in celebration of the lone figures misery.
alone,
with no direction and destination in mind
the figure stood transfixed.
past and present events tumbled from the mind
in fast rivulets of tears from a bottomless pit.
the cold wind that howled echoed the figures heart
there just was no peace.
no streetlights, no people
for once on this busy night
not even the dogs barked
the world has no time for grief.
no resolutions were made as the figure finally moved on
the last lights in the surrounding houses went of
as if to signify a close to the chapter
darkness and struggle had just intensified
