Home Is Where The Heart Is.........There Is No Place Like It
He's been working on the roof
'Found a leak or two
'With that plastic garbage bag
It will be as good as new
Downtown shoppers pennies
Makes the payments where he lives
King of a cardboard castle
He tells everyone who gives....
He'll be home for Christmas
This is gonna be his year
He's saved enough to get a ticket
He'll be home for Christmas
The first December snow
Is gently falling down
That cough is getting worse
About to get the best of him
Thoughts drift to his childhood
There's his mom and dad
He believes he soon will see
Both of them again
He'll be home for Christmas
This is gonna be his year
He's saved enough to get a ticket
He'll be home for Christmas
A tired old wrinkled face
Feels a few more lonely tears
Falling soft and silent
On a frozen snowy beard
His breath becomes more shallow
A policeman takes his arm...
Let's take him to a shelter...
No, he won't get that far.......
He'll be home for Christmas
This is gonna be his year
He's saved enough to get a ticket
He'll be home for Christmas.........
There's something in his hand!!!
Can you brush away the frost?
They shined a light and glowing back
Was a little silver cross....
He'll be home for Christmas
