Home, Alone On Christmas

Home Alone

Waiting next to our humble tree, Irene
wants me home.
To sing her Christmas Carols and ne’er
more to roam.

The tree is the perfect size, as she hides
behind it like a disguise.
Her orange toy lies, just to her right.

Irene, brave cat that you are, have no fright,
Mom hopes to be home by Christmas
Night!

But no Greek dancing this year, if you
please?
I don't want to break another thigh and
knee.

I love you cat-daughter of mine.
On Christmas morn, we will bask in
the warm, holiday sunshine!

Panagiota, A ballad of the brave. For years, I wished for things at Christmas time.., now so unimportant and selfish. I want to change that now. Hope the new prayers come true my poet friend. -Richard
