Home

home
in the dark I close my eyes and listen to the house
noises
shuddering about me
the house settles back down after the bustle of us
coming in
bringing cold air and loud noises
the couch folds me in and I sink in
thinking
I may not make it to bed tonight
I may wake here when the sun shines in the big window
where now
if I opened my eyes
I'd see stars

There is a peaceful nature about this lovely poem. Nicely done! ~ Carrie
