Hollywood Starlet

Your ship will sink and your star will fall So you'd better be prepared I hope you're well seated when you hit that wall And the spotlight dims its glare You step from your car like a debutante You have everything you could ever want Have you stopped to consider the ones you snub Are the ones that have put you there? The diamond bracelet on your wrist That accentuates your tan Rakes the rocks across your skin As you "shoo" away your fans You've got more wealth than you could ever spend But ya don't seem to have it when ya hear from a friend And ya "won't be signing any autographs" At the festival de Cannes You must be aware that you're gettin' old And ya bore the paparazzi (or so I'm told) It's a pity your grace can't act for you As well as your ego can.

I enjoyed the pointed barbs you poked the celebs' ego trips with. An enticing and captivating write Gayle, had me enthralled from start to high-gloss finish..:) Enjoyed! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Very well done my friend. A great description of those that believe that they are above all others and are unprepared when it all comes crashing down. Again, well done.

I think in the end it is more about their insecurities. Having millions of people telling them how amazing they are and still they are not convinced.

I think you're right. Perhaps more get into that line of work for the praise and feelings of value and worth, rather than the love of acting itself. I dunno??

lol we in South Africa have charlise Theron who, for some unbeknown reason, are too shy to acknowledge her humble roots growing up in Benoni in a poor family. fame definitely went to her head. so sad.

Wow fantastic sarcastic Poem on a wealthy celebrity who is fading in glamour. Truly said in reality's ink. I dislike arrogant celebs who snub others and are stuck up. Hey and the rhyming is awesome in your poem. Kudos.

lol. Thank you. Yeah, this came about after watching one of those red carpet shows. There were a few of them acting like this so it's bits and pieces of them rolled into one. Thx for reading.

What happened to grace? Is it dead and buried! Too sad! One at a time they make me not want to watch. Like Reese Witherspoon who was a darling in movies then had a drunk meltdown thinking herself all it. Too too sad. I think of the grace of Doris Day and Cary Grant, for example.
