Holly
She shivers under a thick blanket
twisted limbs seeking sympathy
she envisions twinkling lights
and the cinnamon scent
of Christmas candles
watching lovers’
mistletoe
kisses
melt
~ * ~
hush
nearby
approaching
snowy footsteps
and loving whispers
puffs of billowing breath
the joy of two newlyweds
searching for holiday spirit
as heavy branches sigh in relief
