Hollow

Inside I see
What ne'er will be
Inside I am a hollow man
Inside I see
What ecstasy
Inside I am a hollow man

So here I stay
Who said the light outlasts the day?
That can't be right

And is it true that I am free?
And is it you who cannot be?

I'm swallowed by the night
I'm swallowed by the light
No matter what I am
I only know I've been
And that I've seen and felt the crimson tide of love that's gone awry

I
Have only known that I am not
Humanity once gained and lost
I wonder at the leaf that falls
Each passing year into the dust
And settles to the earthen crust
As time works wonders, killing all
As voices, dying, with completion fall
Beneath the thoughts unspoken in the night
Beneath the words I'd say if they were right

Oh I've been lost in a lie
Oh I know how I can cry

I'm swallowed deep into the night
Forever eterned in the light
Inside what is this lie that I see?
A heart? Who needs heart's ecstasy?
And a soul, yes a soul did I see
But 'tis shattered and broken
'Tis me

Oh inside, deep inside, all I am
Is a shattered, complete, hollow man
