HoliDaze

I walk along the well-lit stores,
Christmas decors hanging on the doors,
Familiar songs that fill the night,
But something’s missing, out of sight.

The scent of pine cones, fresh but faint,
A warmth that fades, a quiet ache.
Snow falls soft on streets so bare,
As empty voices fill the air.

I caught a glimpse of you,
In a coffee shop sipping hot cocoa
The lights inside alive and bright,
But my heart feels cold in the dead of night.

Inside the store, your world unfolds,
While mine is left in shades of cold.
I watch you, lost in fleeting cheer,
And wonder if you’ll ever hear.
The warmth within, I almost feel,
But I stand frozen by the window sill.
Through the glass, I catch your smile,
And stay here, lost for a while.

I press my palm against the glass,
A quiet wish that love would last.
So far apart, a silent ghost,
With an aching heart, I linger close.
Watching as the moments wane,
Locked outside, the window pane.

You laugh with them, but not with me,
Am I just a distant memory?
The carols play, but I’m unsung,
A lonely verse left on my tongue.
The tree is lit, the presents wrapped,
I stand outside, my heart undone.
Your warmth drifts just out of reach,
A love that time could never teach.
I wonder if you ever see
The hollow where you used to be.

Streets glow with golden light,
But shadows stretch across the night.
I hear the laughter and cheer,
But my heart is frozen, full of fear.

The world is wrapped in festive hues,
But the joy around me feels so far.
Unlike the three wise men who followed the star,
I feel like a fool to be where you are.

So far apart, a silent ghost,
With an aching heart, I hold you close.
