Holiday Season

An already dark day
Made more gloomy by the rain
They're all happily awaiting
What drives me insane

Tradition or not,
It's a day off to be together
To feel love & warmth
Amidst the cold winter weather

I have two sets of family,
Two sets of friends
Separate, but united in joy
Whether real or pretend

And here in my own little world
Where I can watch from a distance
I see them all happy with each other
Subtly ignoring my existence

Holiday, Vacation--whatever you call it--
The time when love is shown
When everyone seems high on life
That's when I most often see...that I am all alone
