Holiday Sadness

The holiday season should always be cheerful.
But for many, it can be quite tearful.
For to them it brings memories of what once was-
And can never be again.

While their friends are out celebrating,
And sharing these times with loved ones...
They are home, in a room
Celebrating by themselves, in total solitude.

Maybe they are not alone,
Some are with friends.
However, they can no longer focus on the happiness,
Only focusing on the pain of the feelings which still remain.

They try their best to overcome.
But once again,
the deed was done.

They feel out of control,
They are so full of pity.
To look at them, you'd never know,
the pain that lurks...
Beneath their soul.
