Holiday Moments

Sitting around the dinner table sharing a meal of stories
Being around your drunk uncles as they gradually get noisy
Having a hot cup of gossip mixed with inside jokes
Watching the tenth repeat of Macaulay Culkin's Home Alone
Listening to the evening rain just to call it melted snow
And nodding your head to holiday songs played from a now unfortunately cracked-screen phone.

As the material forms of contentment meet an eventual end
It is the comfort of close company that we never forget.
