Holiday Dreams

Its been so many years
since I shared this holiday
so long now i cannot recollect
the hour or the day
I last saw the christmas lights
shine upon their face
or sang a christmas carol
as they sneak the candy canes
twenty-five last goodnight's
brings the magic of Santa's sleigh
or kissed their gentle faces
on an early christmas day
for the choices I have made
did steal it all away
all the memories we shared
trauma covered with the pain
to loose those darling memories
seems the price of all my shame

I am hopeful for the future now
for yesterday is lost to me
but tomorrow is mine to have
tomorrow is mine to see
  And the blessing thats bestowed
upon my torn and saddend family
is the blessing of true freedom
shines the light of sobriety

So this year will be the first
in all its reality
that we will gather , eat and sleep
reunited as family.

              MERRY CHRISTMAS XOXOXOXO
