Holding Eve

You don't know it, but sometimes,
I slip into moments of pure elation,
bathed in warmth and soaked in
serenity.
And in this place, I find you.
Hidden in the softest part of my
mind,
Saved from the woes of the world.
And you complete me, in ways that
defy
the limits of human possibility.

As I behold you, I embrace
the promise of a smile,
And the tender innocence that
lived before the mask of mistakes
became the core of our identities.
And we are so, young, again,
Blissfully lost while unaware of time,
And choices that changed our faces.

Here, you are perfect again.
And I am still a boy.
Spared of heartache and
unafraid to trust your gentle eyes.
And I stay for awhile,
watching the glow of our beginning.
Hoping my mind finds solace,
In your beauty,
In this memory,
And In my final way,
of keeping you a part of me.
