Holding Back

I’m biting my tongue
I don’t want to say what must be said
I’m drowning in my own foolishness
These thoughts swirling about my head

These bitter words I choke back
Shoving lies down my throat
Believing them
As to not betray

I hate this whimsy that haunts my mind
I hate this passion that empowers my heart
True love… a thing so hard to find
Why’d I have to find it… in you?
