Hold Me Once
with cradle kicks and little sobs,
when needed love she let me know,
smiling would pick little heart throb,
“hug you once and then back you go!”
early schooling days she would cry,
with tearful eyes and sad eyebrows,
she would say, as I wiped tears dry,
“please hug me once then I shall go!”
falling in love and wedding bells,
how we all do age, sure and slow,
while parting both our hearts did swell,
I said ‘hug me once, let you go!’
seasons changed as the days rolled by,
she would have baby by next snow,
our joys were boundless hopes were high,
she held close, said “can’t let you go!”
all was well till baby was born,
she bled, they couldn’t stop the flow,
in my dreams she pleaded next morn,
“Mum! love my baby, as loved me so!”
