Hold Me Close

Don't let me be a dream
Let me be a memory;
With life as short as it seems,
That is definitely our adversary.

Don't let me be a silhouette
Instead make me a figure;
Someone you can touch like a bracelet,
Someone you can have in your mind like a picture.

Don't be my worst nightmare
Be my sweetest loving dream;
Love me even when I'm not there,
Because I'll see the sparkle in your eyes that gleam.

And don't be afraid to hold me close
Dance with me as if I am the one who'll set you free;
Pull me in with your gaze and ignore those,
Who are mean to you because you belong with me.

Such a beautiful, endearing and openhearted poem Nick. Full of your love and vulnerability yet strong in what you would like in this love relationship. Well done and enjoyed!
