History

Upon my pillow I lay my head,
thinking of you,
wishing you were here, in my bed.
I close my eyes, and your face I see,
with your green, green eyes,
smiling back at me.
My fingers caress your silken hair,
pulling you close,
I say how much I care.

I open my eyes with a start,
seeing only darkness,
feeling a pain in my heart.
It was just a dream, a memory,
our love is forever gone,
history.

Tango.
