His Love Kept Him There

He could have come down from the cross
He didn't have to stay
He could have called the angels
To come to Him that day
Yet He did the will of His Father
A cross He chose to bear
My sins are what nailed Him to the cross
But His love's what kept Him there
When Jesus came down to earth
And walked among men
He showed so much compassion
For people lost in sin
He carried out His Father's plan
To save those who were lost
The only way this could be done
Was His death upon a cross
Often times we forget just what He went through
The beatings and rejection was all for me and you
We should long to do His will and make this our daily prayer
Let me show to those around me that love that kept You there
