His Daughter

                                           In my darkness,

                                          I found Your Light

In the dust of my mistrust

                                    Dying in my deepest night.

                                           Your quenching

                                             Living water

                                           Poured unto me,

                                     Your wandering daughter

                                          Your Voice broke

                                               Through

                                        Like Mighty thunder,

                                 Leaving me in startled wonder.

                                     Your Word, a living Light;

                                         Disrupted shadows

                                              Of the night

                                        My hopeless dreams

                                       Though broken; dashed,

                                        Had cut my heart like

                                           Shards of glass

                                           My hope of life?

                                            I voted 'pass'

That is, until Your bright Sword flashed,

Cutting through my cords of doubt

And chains which bound me round about.

My heart and song now lift in praise

                                   Your path leads me through

                                              Son lit days

I see that 2024 was a slow year for your poetry. So I would like to make you a challenge. I was wondering if you could, before this year is out, if you choose to accept, submit 40 poems before Jan 1 rolls around. Good Luck and oh Happy New Year! Love your hubby; Anon Y'Mous

Wow Bj, what an encompassing story of revelation. Living water has such significance in your poem, He is our 'Son lit days', He quenches our thirst with Living Water and puts us on a path of transformation from dark to light. Awesome metaphors. Brilliant write my friend. blessings, hugs, Jennifer.

Thank you Jennifer :) I was inspired and lifting my head above the ashes as I wrote this about my life as a young lady. Sometimes, I still fall into the ashes, but our Lord is the Living Water dowsing the flames. He is our Light in darkness. My faith is in Him, though I often feel quite little faith in myself. Thats ok though. When I am weak, He is strong, He is SO Very Strong :) It is good to know we have a Father Who loves us so much. He is near to us,

Yes, it is certainly His Spirit that leads us to His Light. I was unwanted as a child by my mother, but found that I have a Heavenly Father, and a Family that is so far above the pain of this world. I am so glad to be His daughter, wanted, planned and with a purpose! :)

Hello my friend.. This poem eloquently captures the journey from darkness to light, from despair to hope, through the transformative power of faith. The opening lines, "In my darkness, I found Your Light," immediately drew my attention, setting the tone for a deeply personal and spiritual exploration. The imagery of darkness symbolizes a state of despair or uncertainty, while the metaphor of finding light suggests a moment of revelation or awakening...

Yes SO, oh, my darkness was so profound until I found the Light that drew mw in to Him. I still have battles with my own faith in myself, but never in God. He is the Light. I still feel like I am not always above the ashes, life sort of burns us sometimes and sometimes old hurts flare up where you thought the fire was out...then I need to run to the Light Who is also the Living Water to put the flames of dispair out again. Thus is life I guess :) Thank you for your visit and understanding of my poem. I definitely sought the Lord after His interventions in my life, that is for certain. Finding faith was not something I had felt attainable, but I am glad I found it in Him.
