Hindsight of the Unknown Citizen

Ashes to ashes;
Dust to dust—
Before you may die,
Change the world, you must.
By wanting to be
The average man,
You’re caging your soul
As fast as you can.
Don’t waste your time
On everyday things;
You’ll never see
What life all brings.
If by your death
You’ve done nothing rare,
People around
Will have not a care.
You cannot possibly
Think it’s your job
To reach the world’s door
And keep turning the knob.
To make your wildest
Dreams come true,
You must push the door open
And walk yourself through.
No one will notice
You playing by the rules;
You’re making your place
With identical fools.
Instead of dying as
The “Citizen Unknown”,
Please, for your sake,
Take a stand on your own.
