Him Above

I wish he would let me Look upon his face As I wish to bask in The glory of his grace Him above confuses me The multiplicity of names For the one god Addles my sometimes unbelieving brain Allah Yahweh Christ Three in one and one in three Do I need a theology degree to understand Him that didst make me? I live and die they claim According to his plan It seems my life must be all About a man I have never seen What’s in this for me? Am I subjected to both an earthly And heavenly tyranny? Heaven is above Sadly its entrance is via a grave The here and now must end Before I can benefit from his grace Is this truth or religious mythology? No one knows what features The all seeing has My mind cannot comprehend Why he hides himself so well I am after all one of his flock And serve him well I see in nature his love for mankind His bounty of resources Shows a love unrestrained Tangled though my mind may be When I contemplate his divinity And usefulness to me I must acknowledge my great thanks To him who helped create me
