Highs and Lows

My day was filled with highs and lows
But isn’t that the way life goes?
The joys show up and then the woes;
That’s what’s to be expected.

So smiles are followed fast by frowns;
We alternate the ups and downs,
With neon moods that switch to browns
And leave us quite dejected.

Of course, our focus, if we’re cool,
Should be the highs, which give us fuel
To plow ahead and overrule
All negatives detected.

This is true enough "We alternate the ups and downs," of many days. Which is why we have to make sure we concentrate more effort on the ups.

Despite the daily reminder of the sun, moon, and stars, people tend to forget we live by cycles, and what goes around comes around. "The darkest hour is just before dawn", so well caught, Ilene!

It’s time for a string of poems about how wrong you were about Trump, and what a mistake it was to vote for Biden

Try reading the foreign news, Hannah! Trump is an international loser, and it will take years to compensate for his stupidity and ego! Please do your homework!

I especially liked the way this poem kept me moving into the positive, Ilene. Paul is right, you do move on with positive attitude and that makes your poems special. I love reading them.
