High School Crush

Sitting in the classroom at the beginning of the school year
Worrying about how school will be for me as I sat filled with fear
Johnny, Sue and Cindy walking in with smiles, with no cares
Then you walked in I couldn't help myself but sit and stare

You had a head full of sandy blond curls and big green eyes
I suddenly felt warm and tingly all over to my surprise
Our eyes met and you gave me a huge white smile
I knew then this year had just improved by a mile

I decided to be daring and write you an anonymous note
My confidence is not great and not sure about what I wrote
You read my note, and just sat there and didn't show any signs
I was not sure if you had a girlfriend or still could be mine

The school bell rang, it was now time to leave to go home
I left in a hurry walking out very fast and alone
I heard my name called, I then stopped and turned around
There you stood smiling, I felt dizzy and my heart pound

You asked if I sent you that note and wanted to talk
I said yes, I did and we left together on a slow walk
Prom is in a month and you asked me to be your date
I said yes, I would love to and didn't even hesitate

You came to my door with a corsage the night of the prom
We had a great night it was like living a through a song
The night was perfectly magical and I felt so much bliss
Especially when the night ended with our first romantic kiss

Adorable and it took me back on wings of nostalgia! I never 'initiated' a relationship, having been the last of girls born who were taught that 'boys' are the aggressors (DON't even call them) so if I were a teenager in this day and age, I'd never get a date! Not sure how to write for this contest, but I love the feel and content of yours. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Thank you CayCay, writing it brought back a lot of nostalgia, imagine back then using notes and now a days is just texting and phones, thanks for stopping by!
