Hidden Truth

He said that the beauty in him had died, But I saw the transparency within his lies. He said that he's happy *portraying a smile*, But I saw a different world, hidden in his eyes. The way he laughs to conceal his pain, How he distracts himself by playing these games. His heart, wounded but bigger than oceans, Pure and innocent with hidden emotions. He's only strong in the presence of others, But when he's alone, he sees the silhouette of her. The midnight memories lingering about, Chasing him down, refusing to stop. He's scared to love so he works on himself, Hoping she'd notice the pain that he felt. I can see it in him that he's trying his best, Though the night's wicked, stealing his rest.
