Here's My Heart
Here it is, open and on display
the very heart I gave away.
Did you think it was a game
bending to love's false claim?
Here it is, broken in frustration
in the loss of love's expectations
Push it down and bury it deep
covered by the lies of deceit.
Within the shadow of a broken heart
feelings and emotions part
There's no do-over around the bend
alas, we can still be friends.
