Here and Now

Right now it’s happening,
a fight with an old friend.
I’m supposed to pay attention
to what message my mind sends.

So I sit here alone
on the edge of my seat.
Searching inside of me
hoping an answer will I meet.

I’m thinking about myself,
what is going through my mind.
My stomach is turning,
I’m not sure what to find.

I’m looking for a thought
or a feeling of some sort.
What I really would like to do
is run away and cut this short.

But I’m trying to work
on a new part of me.
That will one day think better,
and from then on, I’ll be free.

Free of all the mixed messages,
all the confusion and woe.
I’ll learn how to deal
with things then let them go.
