Here and Now

With youth, I lived like time was free To waste as though there were no end Of years that seemed so far away Too young to know about regrets Of borrowed time or what could be No promise of a second chance Allowing me another day When here and now holds the key To wake the dreams I left in sleep And play what music makes me dance And hear the sounds of what is clear In youth, I took no time to hear The wind that rustles through the trees Whose branches stretch like arms that reach Skyward, just to touch the sun And grasp the rain that falls upon The earth and all the life it brings With notes that makes the tin roof sing Like quiet songs of ocean waves They soothe the souls of all who take The time to listen, becomes so clear As youth, we take no time to hear What age and widsom now allow To know that life is here and now Kevin D.
