Her Story

as i sit
my mind slips
i hear a ping
and feel like i could sing
i hear a bird
a sound i never heard
a beautiful sound
one i have found
like no other
i see a mother
cuddle her child
she does not know she had been defiled
she cried and cried
one day she died
no one cared
they never shared
the love she needed
they didn't hear how she pleaded
for someone to save her
no one knows for sure
how she died
but that she tried
to keep a smile
and make her life worth while
now she is a star
so far
in the sky
and she shines bright
with all her might
to let her mother know
to show
that she loves her
forever more
