HER EYES

Her Eyes.

Her eyes the light of long, lost days,

of innocence and simple ways.

She found me after all these years,

hiding, fighting back the tears

of a life that had not been too kind,

and who I was, was left behind.

The boy she knew bore little trace.

To the man behind my broken face

In my eyes, she saw the pain

of self-inflicted, lonely chains.

But in her eyes, I saw my past,

and a piece of me broke free at last..
