Her Drum-Steps

she sings: she drums: she dances!
all the forest
is in a commotion of her songs -
she renders a full communion
to those native souls
eavesdropping from the hilly paths
into the ancestral kingdom -
each morning is like a herald
of her lofty communion
even the blue evening azure
echoes her drum-steps -
yonder june is drumming near
as old may fades away
brimful of her lavish & sonorous
songs & drum-steps -
& still
she sings: she drums: she dances!
