She cast her silken shadow in the moonlight
To trace her cursive odes on tiptoes, tender
Upon the cooling beach sand, 'side the ocean
Oh countless nights she danced here by the ocean
And dreamed of her brave captain in the moonlight
The love that they had made here, oft' and tender
But she was gray now, not that lass, once tender
Her captain, gone for years, claimed by the ocean
Now soft, she danced into the deep by moonlight ...
While moonlight danced, so tender ... on the ocean.
