Hello

The pitter patter of my heart
Tells me that you’re near,
I can feel you next to me.
Will you see me today?
Smile? Wave? Say hello?
I wait to hear the sound of your voice,
A smile to spread across your beautiful face.
Oh! Your beautiful smile.
You say hello
And so do I.
This seems to be the only thing we do,
Exchange hellos
And return to what we were doing.
Because I don’t have the sense
To say anything more
And because you (I assume)
Don’t want to say anything more.
Tomorrow, I will go beyond hello
To express what I have wanted to say
For so long…
It doesn’t happen.
