Helen Thomas

she couldn't help it
when she said what she said
she was just a mouth.
a big o mouth in Washington
a few words before you leave
and those awful words came out

But God gave me an awesome message
while i thought it out.
I have to send a message
through someone with some clout
someone they say is big enough
and will not have to shout

Oh Isreal,
Remember how they treated you
when you were over there?
But since you have
your country
now you think it's fair?
To come from out of Eygpt
and through the wilderness.
Shouldn't someone remind you
"That's how they treated us?"

Absolutely ... the wheel turns and the shoes on the other foot or some such thing ... its too bad the wonderful reporter had to end her illustrious career the way she did however, I totally agree with her ... smile ... Great write here John!!

John ...Abrahamic religions are religions which share the patriarch Abraham in their religious lineage, although he plays different roles in different Abrahamic religions. Islam, Christianity, and Judaism are all considered to be Abrahamic religions....so yes you ceratinly are more than welcome to write to one of those choices. Thanks for the blog comment!

Nice write, thought provoking! For me Israel has a divided soul. On the one hand, it is a very capitalistic country and on the other hand, its view is very liberal. I believe the latter is a consequence of the Holocaust; the former is its original character. Thanks for sharing, and thank you for your kind comments on my featured poem. Glad to meet you on Facebook. Caroline.

Helen is an icon in Washington and I love the way she always speaks her mind bluntly. You have created a masterful, thought-provoking tribute to Helen, John. Excellent writing! Love, Carolyn PS -- Get me some Eagles' tickets too!

If this is about what I think it is, yes, I remember when my brother was alive, he felt this way about Israel too. As for that poem of mine you commented on, it was completely made up, like many of my poems are. Never had a dark knight (maybe it would have been kind of cool!)
