Heaven Took My Angel

I thought our days would last forever
I thought we'd grow old and gray together
making plans and building dreams
not too much to ask would seem.

Couldn't heaven wait just one more night?

Her face I'd see with morning light
a gift to me that felt so right
all our dreams just whisked away
what life could be if she could stay.

Couldn't heaven wait just one more night?

This pain to carry on lonesome street
who I was now incomplete
to watch her go before my eyes
the hurt inside should not surprise.

Couldn't heaven wait just one more night?

Seems to me a bit of greed
the angels there are all you need
I'm only asking for just this one
we were not through we were not done!

Couldn't heaven wait and let us be?

Heaven took my angel away from me!
