Heaven Tonight
When you look up into the clouds
Tell me what you see
Beyond the whispery vapour
Lies our common destiny
Another existence, a parochial step
For those that hear the call
To tread the celestial staircase
Into God’s marble hall
Free of suffering, trial and pain
Exist beside their Creator
All things too have come to pass
Sooner now than later
There are many that have departed
And many more left behind
Endeavouring to survive
To salvage what they can find
So when the sun has disappeared
The black replaces light
Gaze into eternal vastness
And look to Heaven tonight
