Listen to poem:
At bedtime he closes his eyes Thru meadows chases butterflies Sunshine in his hair Free without a care He’s ten and innocent Surely heaven sent Each night distant stars he touches Leaves behind his crutches The soul of a budding drummer Liberated thru fields of summer Recurring dreams of running free And like his friends he climbs a tree AP: 3rd place 2020 Posted on May 18, 2019

Thank you so much for the lovely compliment and FAV'ing my poem, Panagiota. This poem is actually about my husband who got polio as a toddler and has been on crutches all his life. Around the tender age of 10 he needed a serious operation on his legs. It means a lot that you FAVE'd this poem.
