Heaven On Earth

Like a ticking time bomb, I stayed in my shell. Waiting to get out of this hell that was my life. Feeling alone in every corner, I stayed isolated, Waiting for a shoulder. Hoping someone would reach out to me, Thinking everyone else had the key. Till I realized that I was the door, And the key was in me. And that's when I looked up for the first time, And realized that the only fault was mine. For I created my own misery, And blamed others for what I did to me. I picked my head up and walked tall, And that's when I saw them all. Everyone was like me, Or should I say how I used to be. Heads down with hands in their pockets, Waiting for someone to open them up like lockets. Thinking they to were alone in their hell-- And that's why I have this story to tell... Life can be a lonely place, Until you look up. And see the world for what it is... An empty cup. Waiting for you to fill it with everyone else, Not to stand alone in it like a prison cell. For what's in that cup can be beautiful and pleasant, And instead of being your hell-- It can be your heaven.
